UTAH STATE CRITERIUM CHAMPIONSHIP

This Saturday, May 10th, is the Darek Leyde Memorial Utah State Criterium
Championship sponsored by Cyclesmith

Course:
The course is going to be FAST! Less than 2k/lap, it has something for
everyone. Did i mention it is going to be fast?! This is not the RMR you
are used to; no oval, no circuit race. This is a real criterium with
plenty of turns and a huge finish line. You will NOT be
disappointed.

Trophies:
The trophies are COOL! Not only will you have bragging rights as the State
Criterium Champion, you will have something really cool to put on your mantel.

Darek Leyde:
This criterium is named after a really great guy that we raced with. He passed
away from skin cancer (something all cyclists should be cautious
of), and we were all saddened by his loss. Please wear plenty of sunscreen and
keep Darek in your thoughts.

Salt Aire TT Cancelled

We will run the TT on May 8, 15, and the 22nd this month.

Pioneer Park is under construction still, so we created a brand new course out at RMR this year (really cool).
It will be back at Pioneer Park next year.

Racing on the oval....

The A flite break of 10 lapped the field and on the line Cameron Hoffman from American RADD stole the show!

The Bs also saw a break stay away and it was another American RADD rider... Alan Stettler who took the win.

C flite was on fire and David Coates lit it up and took the win!

Great racing today by all!

Congrats to Mike Sohm (Porcupine Specialized) for his big (almost solo) win in the A flite!

Sam Moore (Canyon) racked up another win and is on top of the leader board for the B flite.

The Porcupine crew has a nice lead in the C flite thanks in part to todays winner Todd Nuemarker.

If you are in the C flite please hang tight for your results...
We have to get all the new numbers/names/teams into the data base and then the results will start popping up
Look for them to be up later tonight and then they should be up with in a day from here going forward

New D flite/Jr and Womens Crit.

Starting March 15th (weather permitting) We will offer a separate crit for both the D flite/Jrs and the Women!

Instead of being lumped in with the C flite there will be a separate start/finish for both of these groups.
You do not need a plate...or a coach...or a fancy schmancy bike.
Just a helmet...$10..a good attitude...and let the fun begin!
We are hoping this will allow the newest beginners and youngest racers a chance to test there wings and get a feel for a pack.
Ladies this will give you a chance to do some speed work with other women without the hassle/mess of having men around.

Both groups are dependant on participation so spread the word!

The Weekly World Championships!

Less Than 4 days!!
It is almost go time for the 2008 Utah Crit Series!!!

The official kick off will be Saturday March 8th out at Rocky Mountain Raceway.
A/B flite will take off at Noon followed by the C flite at 1:05.

Online plate registration will begin Feb 1st at

If you buy your plate online before March 5th cost will be just $50 and will
include your first race at either the RMR or Salt Air TT.

After Feb 5th the price jumps to $55.
Plate holder enjoy individual as well as team point tracking...
priems... and awards at the end of the year (ask Dave H about his 6ft tall
trophy)
as well as a discount on each event during the entire Crit Series race season!!!

Racing will still be just $8(per event) for plate holders and $12(per event)
C flite plate holders race for just $8 and $10 for non plate holders.
We will be a USCF event again this year so please have your USAC License with you...
if not you will have to buy a one day (ouch!!)

Exception is for new racers in the C flite!!!!

Get ready because in less than 4 days it will be on like ???????

Crit Series Upgrades

I have been getting a lot of requests for upgrades and I know this info is already posted on the site but I thought I would just toss it up there again as a refresher...

To be in the A flite...
You need to have a USCF license and be either a Pro, Cat1, or Cat2.
The exception to the rule is those Cat3's that were in the top 15 of the B flite from the previous season(s).
If you do not fit into this description you are either a B or C.

To be in the B flite...
You need to have a USCF license and be either a Cat3 or a Cat4... NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!!!

To be in the C/D flite...
You need not have a USCF license but you will pay an additional fee for not having one. You can be a Cat4 or Cat5 or brand new.

These rules are not here to hold anyone back... they are the policy that is given to us by our insurance provider and USAC. If you have any questions reguarding these rules please feel free to call me directly to discuss.

General Race/Series Info!

This Saturday (March 24th)is round two of the 2007 Canyon Bicycles Criterium Series. Saturday early season stuff is, as always, at Rocky Mountain Raceway! A/B flite hit the streets at 12:00 followed by C/D flite at 1:10. This year the series is covered under USAC so things are a bit different.

READ THE FOLLOWING!

What you will need to race...
A flite
1) A valid/current USCF license with Cat 1 or Cat 2 Status.
2) Your Crit Series Plate (if you want your points tracked and to participate in Cash awards)
3)You must sign your USAC release form
4)Helmet(worn at all times) Bike(USCF Legal)In a nutshell all USCF rules apply.

B Flite
1) A valid/current USCF license with Cat 3 or Cat 4 Status.
2) Your Crit Series Plate (if you want your points tracked and to participate in Cash awards)
3)You must sign your release USAC release form
4)Helmet(worn at all times) Bike(USCF Legal)All USCF rules apply.

C Flite
1) A valid/current USCF license or you can purchase a 1 day license for $5

D Flite
1) A valid/current USCF license or you can purchase a 1 day license for $5 Total to race $10 for beginners only!

Please take care of you USAC license before Saturday to reduce the time spent filling out paperwork.
You can buy your plates at the race but come early to reduce your wait in line and keep the race starting on time. As always your plate purchase includes your first race.
